Thank you to everyone that attended Project Knitwell’s 10th Anniversary Event and Auction. We are so pleased that we were able to hear from Suzan Colón on her journey and try out her MedKNITation. We hope that you are interested in learning more and will visit Suzan’s website is

We have heard the words “Project Knitwell is my lifeline” these last few months especially. Here is what one new participant told us:

“Thank you for bringing knitting into my life. I’ll be honest that finding things to look forward to this year has been difficult, maybe impossible at times. I’m very grateful for the great work that you do in bringing this comforting and meditative practice to those who need it.”

Our work is ongoing and we see many more years of providing assistance to those in stressful situations. We have momentum with our new virtual programs and we are happy to return to our on-site programs. Our volunteers are currently active at Fairfax Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Friends of Guest House for recently incarcerated women, Catholic Charities for Afghan refugees, and John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents for youth with special needs.

We pledge in our next decade to have more involvement in research on the subject of knitting as a wellness tool and more involvement in the area of arts and healthcare. The people we serve are diverse, and we aim for even more diversity in our future recruitment of volunteers and those we partner with. With your support we look forward to continuing our Knitting with a Purpose: Wellness, Comfort, and Community for the next ten years and beyond!
