Matt’s Socks, named in memory of Matt Sunter, the late husband of Project Knitwell Executive Director Michelle Maynard, is a collaboration between Project Knitwell and North Light Fibers, with a pattern designed by Twist Collective Editor Kate Gilbert.
Join us for Project Knitwell’s first ever KNIT-A-LONG (KAL)! Join the Sock Knitting Wave!
Starting July 26 and continuing through Labor Day we’ll be knitting “Matt’s Socks” to raise awareness of knitting as a way to cope with stressful situations and to promote wellness. Summer is a perfect time for sock knitting – especially if the pattern is a lovely, soothing “wave” motif in a gorgeous blue yarn!
Details on the KAL or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
During Matt’s long battle with cancer, Michelle knit many pairs of socks – in doctor’s offices and hospital waiting rooms – as a way to help her cope, feel more grounded, and even be a better caregiver.
Matt’s Socks kits will be sold through North Light Fibers, Project Knitwell, and at Looped Yarn Works. Kits purchased in store are $50. Online orders are $55, to include shipping. Proceeds from sales benefit Project Knitwell.
Each kit is packaged in a see-through plastic bag that doubles as a knitting bag, and includes:
- 2 skeins (215 yards/73 grams each skein) of North Light Fibers Dodge Street fingering weight Yarn in “Fresh Pond” colorway. 70% superfine merino, 30% bamboo.
- Exclusive Matt’s Socks pattern designed by Twist Collective Editor Kate Gilbert.
