Early in the pandemic one of our volunteers, Debbie Heller, came up with the idea to knit for our program sites and provide knitted gifts during the holiday season, so Knitwell Knits Back was launched and it sure DELIVERED! More than 186 knitted hats were donated to N Street Village as part of their holiday winter coat drive earlier this month, 30 more hats are going to the students at RICA in December, more than 30 pairs of fingerless gloves will be going to healthcare workers, and almost 70 coasters and knitted hearts will be sent to staff members at our program sites and to other supporters. It was a collaborative effort on the part of 32 volunteers and friends of Project Knitwell. More than 25 hats came from customers of the Yarn Cloud in Occoquan. Our “hats” are off to Debbie and all those who made KKB so successful!
