Participants gathered at the store to share the joy of knitting with friends while enjoying refreshments and lively conversation. On top of that, over $1000 was raised for Project Knitwell!
Special thanks to expert instructors Dee O’Keefe and Tanis Grey who taught new knitters the basics.
Congratulations to Marie and Paula! They each won a “relaxation basket” containing yarns donated from Miss Babs, Lux Adorna, Neighborhood Fibre Co., Brooklyn Tweed Co. and Freia, as well as gift certificates donated by local Alexandria businesses Salon de Zen and Killer E.S.P.

Project Knitwell and Medstar Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program are sponsoring an evening with Betsan Corkhill, Personal Wellbeing Coach and physiotherapist. Betsan wrote Knit for Health and Wellness and founded Stitchlinks, a global support network for people who enjoy the therapeutic benefits of crafts.

This year on October 10th, participants enjoyed Yoga and Yarn in Alexandria. The successful fund-raiser added to Project Knitwell’s ability to provide materials and patterns to clients. And, a good time was had by all!
Yarn Over Yoga, a fund-raiser held October 25th to benefit Project Knitwell, was featured in the McLean newspaper The Connection to your Community.

Project Knitwell held its first Yarn over Yoga fundraiser at Pengu Studios in McLean on Saturday, October 25. We relaxed over yoga and knitting, made some new friends, and raised funds that will enable us to offer programming at new sites. Look for more Yarn Over Yoga at other locations in the DC area in the months to come.
